Cartagena de Indias – 1st week of Spanish class

Cartagena, Columbia: 10 August - 16 August 2014

A week in picturesque Cartargena saw us put down our bags for a few days and kick-start our brains into gear. Given that most countries in South America speak Spanish we thought it would be a good idea to learn some basics. Our first week of Spanish lessons took place in Cartagena in Columbia where it is nice and warm (too hot & humid for Ian). Every day for a week we strolled through the quaint old town of Cartagena lined with different colored Spanish colonial houses and their picturesque balconies. Spanish class was fun – there were four of us in the class being taught by our lovely tutor Natalia. It was all very relaxed. We enjoyed some nice ceviche and other foods (most of it overpriced as the place is quite touristy) and one day Ian braved the barbershop and got a haircut. All in all it was a very chilled week with lots of sun.
