Bali Bliss

Bali: 28 April - 1 May

After a frustrating 7hr delayed journey we finally arrive at the Suribuana Ecolodge at 2am absolutely knackered. We sleep until lunchtime the next day and in effect lost a day of our holiday....

...after some tasty breakfast we venture to explore the lodge area down to the waterfall and back to the vegetable garden and fishpond. We love our little bungalow with rain forest view. Everything is amazingly lush and green and quiet apart from noisy birds and other animals going about their business. We have our massages in an open hut overlooking the 'valley' and with a thunderstorm around us. An incredible experience. Back in our bungalow we watch the rain in the afternoon. Very romantic. The food at the lodge is lovely and by the end of Sunday we had recovered from the ordeal of getting here.

On Monday we hike to Batukaru temple through and up and down rice terraces, along streams passing by coffee trees, cocoa trees, a clove tree, vanilla plants, jack-fruit trees, bamboo and many other in our view exotic plants in their natural habitat. Ian had a little sliding down the hill experience and Astrid nearly slipped on a stone crossing a little stream. It was a great trek and the temple was nice too. After some more tasty food back at the lodge we wait out the rain again in our bungalow before enjoying yet another massage.

On Tuesday we squeeze in another rain forest walk before we have to depart after lunch. It was a great little holiday and we definitely consider going back. The view from the lodge reminded us of a place in France we had been to on our first ever holiday together about 6 years ago :)
