Ian's Birthday - Leaving Hong Kong in style weekend

Hong Kong: 4 - 6 April 2014

The time has come to start saying good bye to our home for the last 4.5 years (how they have flown by!). What better way to use Ian's birthday and combine it with leaving celebrations by making it a weekend of 'Leaving Hong Kong in Style'. Starting off with a 'Blast from the Past' Wuxi ribs dinner, before heading off to the 'Birds Nest' (aka The Ritz Carlton) for a 'Heavenly Slumber' in room 116-21 with superb HK Island skyline views! A 'Pie in the Sky' breakfast sent us on our way for the 'Year of the Horse' activity - a helicopter ride around the island going past Kennedy town, Aberdeen, Ocean Park and over Causeway Bay back to the Peninsula - it was awesome - and the best bit - Ian didn't guess it until the very end :). After all this excitement we deserved a nice 'Crouching Tiger - Hidden Dragon' Afternoon Tea at the ICON hotel with some nice Chinese style savouries and more great views. Our next 'Year of the Ox' activity was slightly foiled as Cafe Louisl doesn't seem to exist any more (what a shame - it looked like it was in a really nice spot!) and our 'Blast for the Past 2' dinner was closed because of the public holiday (Ching Ming). Nevermind, we went shopping for jungle shirts instead (we now have his & hers matching ones - still not sure how I feel about that), before jumping on 'The Pacific' - a Hong Kong harbour cruise (where we learned about Gambling boats). Sunday was the 'Snake in The Grass' trip to Po Toi Island, one of the southern most parts of Hong Kong (3 miles off Stanley) where we walked around some rugged trails before the rain started and we just about made it to the sea food place without getting soaked - the food was awesome and the prawns may have been the best prawns ever :)
