20/10/09 - Sokcho
10hrs, 23km roundtrip and about 1500 'hoehenmeter' up and down the mountain (Daechongbong Peak/1708m) that consisted almost entirely of steps/stairs of one variety or another...apparently the steps/stairs are a very Korean way of hiking in the mountains...we made it in one day, however, by the end we were glad to be back on the bottom where we started and on the bus home. The scenery (autumn colours) was brilliant! It was really windy most of the way up, but especially on the
top - hence the photo's where we both clutch onto the 'gipfel-kreuz' at the very top :)The bimbibab once we got back to Sokcho was well deserved.
21 October 09 - Sokcho
Today we went to a spa (Cheoksan Hot Spring Resort) - seperate areas for men and women, but a brilliant experience being the only westerners amongst all Koreans doing their thing in the bath-house. Let's hope the Cheoksan hot springs water which is known to be beneficial for people with skin diseases, eye diseases, gastroenteric disorders, and neuralgia, is also good for some sore muscles!
